Manchester City defeated Newcastle United 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium and are through to the semi-finals of the FA Cup. Bernardo Silva scored a brace in the first half, and it was enough to seal the win against Newcastle United. Man City dominated the possession and the game itself, as they took 16 shots in total with five on target.
In the 13th minute, Manchester City took the lead as Bernardo Silva scored with a bit of luck. Man City moved the ball quickly in the Newcastle United box. Rodri found Silva in space to his right. The Portuguese dribbles in the box and shoots. The ball takes a big deflection off Dan Burn and it goes over Martin Dubravka and into the far corner.
In the 31st minute, Silva scored again, and Ruben Dias got to the final third. The Portuguese pass the ball to Silva in space, and he shoots with his left foot toward the goal. Like the first goal, the ball takes a deflection to get past Dubravka. Sven Botman wrong-foots his keeper, and the ball goes into the net. The goal is awarded to Bernardo Silva, and he gets his brace.
The second half showcased no goals, but Man City almost scored on a couple of occasions
In the second half, Doku plays a one-two with Foden and takes a low shot. The Newcastle keeper makes a vital save and tips it around the far post. Erling Haaland takes a shot from a tight angle, but it’s blocked by Botman and sent it for a corner. Man City couldn’t score anymore, but they won 2-0 to keep their back-to-back treble win dreams alive.
