Manchester City beats Manchester United 3-1 at the Manchester Derby!
Manchester City defeated Manchester United 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League. The Manchester Derby was intense as always, and Man City completed a comeback in their stadium as they were trailing 1-0 early in the game. Man City is still fighting in the title race as it remains second in the league with 62 points and is one point below Liverpool, who are still league leaders. Next week, Man City will play Liverpool at Anfield in the season’s biggest game.
In the first half, Marcus Rashford scored the opener with a brilliant strike from outside the box. Andre Onana launches a long kick to Bruno Fernandes. The Portuguese leaves the ball to Rashford and with no hesitation, the English striker fires a 25 yard strike that cannons off the crossbar and into the net to give Man United the lead. It was a screamer that left Man United fans wild.
Man City tried to score the equalizer before halftime, but they struggled to get past Onana, who made crucial saves. Erling Haaland missed a sitter before halftime, and he sent the ball over with his foot in front of the empty net
Phil Foden scores a brace in the second half as Man City wins 3-1
The second half was very impressive for Manchester City as Phil Foden led the way. In the 58th minute, Foden, from outside the box, took a left-footed shot past Onana to give Man City the equalizer. Man City kept insisting on finding another goal to win the game. That goal would arrive in the 80th minute as Foden scored his second of the game.
Foden started the move as he combined with De Bruyne and Julian Alvarez to then finish in the box with a strike into the bottom right corner. It wasn’t done there after as Amrabat is disposed easily by Rodri near the box. Rodri passes the ball to Haaland and he slots the ball into the bottom left corner in the 91st minute.
