In an interview with The Independent, Manchester United coach Erik ten Hag had a lot to share about striker Rasmus Hojlund.
Although he initially struggled to adapt to Man United’s style of play since moving to England from Atalanta, recently, Hojlund has been in excellent scoring form. In the last 6 matches in all competitions, the Danish striker scored 7 goals, thereby helping the Red Devils gradually approach the top 4 of the Premier League.
However, right when he was having classy performances, Hojlund brought sad news to Man United fans when yesterday, the club’s official homepage announced that the 21-year-old striker would have to rest for about 3 weeks because muscle injury. This means that Man United will not have a true striker in at least the next 5 matches because Hojlund’s backup, Anthony Martial, is also recovering from injury.
Although there are not many options left in attack, coach Ten Hag still believes that the team will move forward in the future.
“Hojlund is very important for us but he is not the biggest star in the team,” the Dutch coach said. “Alejandro Garnacho has been playing great recently, so has Marcus Rashford, we have a lot of players who can score, Bruno Fernandes or Scott McTominay for example. In September or October, Hojlund was not in good form in the Premier League but we still knew how to win so his injury did not affect the team much.
The Red Devils will welcome Fulham at Old Trafford for a match in round 26 of the Premier League. A victory will help Ten Hag’s team equalize the score with 5th place Tottenham Hotspur because the Roosters will not play this weekend.
