Pep Guardiola has criticized rumors from the Spanish media that Erling Haaland is unhappy at Man City and wants to join Real Madrid next season. Pep Guardiola confirmed that Haaland is very happy in England and will not leave Manchester in the near future.
“You have to ask the media from Madrid, maybe they have more information than us. We don’t have a feeling that will happen. He didn’t play for 2 months because of injury, but perhaps the Spanish media and especially Madrid have more information than us.
We can’t say that Haaland hasn’t adapted quickly and hasn’t played well since he arrived here. Haaland has shown high class since day one. We cannot control what people say. When he is unhappy, he will make his decision.”
Haaland has been absent from Man City since early December. But the Norwegian striker recovered and returned in Man City’s 3-1 win over Burnley in midweek.
Haaland’s return comes at a time when Man City needs to create a winning streak to chase top team Liverpool. Pep Guardiola and his team are still ranked 2nd on the rankings with 5 points less. However, Man City still has a match in hand and can narrow the gap with The Kop. Man City’s next opponent in the Premier League is Brentford.
