Journalist Ricardo Sanchez of Defensa Central suddenly spoke up about the Raphael Varane – Real Madrid deal.
Man United once announced the successful recruitment of the French midfielder on a 4-year contract, from 2021 to 2025. In fact, this is only a 3-year contract, with the option to extend for another year.
Accordingly, Varane’s contract will only last until the end of the 2023/24 season. Therefore, other clubs have the right to freely negotiate and even sign a preliminary contract with Varane from this point on.
If the one-year extension clause is activated, the Red Devils will have to pay Varane a salary of £320,000 per week. This is what Man Utd owners do not want because this player no longer has an important position in coach Erik ten Hag’s squad.
Notably, journalist Ricardo Sanchez of Defensa Central newspaper revealed that Varane is ready to join Real Madrid in January 2024. He has instructed his agent to approach Real Madrid about a potential reunion.
Los Blancos are facing a crisis in defense when David Alaba and Eder Militao are both injured long-term. However, Real still rejected Varane. The French midfielder will stay at Old Trafford at least until the end of this season.
Football Insider confirmed that Man Utd is ready to let defender Varane leave when his contract expires in the summer of 2024. Thus, the Red Devils accept the loss of Varane.
