Exciting developments! Kylian Mbappe’s transfer links intensify as he reportedly meets with Liverpool owner on a private jet. Stay tuned for updates!

Kylian Mbappé, the Paris Saint-Germain superstar, continues to be linked with a move to Liverpool. His contract with PSG ends this season and he’s been heavily touted for a move to Real Madrid for nearly three years, but no transfer has happened yet.

Rumors continue to suggest that Liverpool could still be in the running to sign Mbappé. The 25-year-old came close to moving to Anfield back in 2017 before joining PSG. According to L’Equipe (via the Mirror), he even had a two-hour chat with Liverpool owner John Henry on his private jet about a possible transfer.

PSG president Nasser Al Khelaifi spoke on the Rothen s’enflamme RMC podcast about Kylian Mbappé’s future. He said: “Look, I am not trying to hide anything. I want Kylian Mbappe to stay at PSG. He’s the best player in the world and the best club for him is PSG.

“He is central to our project. We have done a lot of things, some have worked more than others. We have made mistakes and this is normal. Now we have a young team, with French players, and we are not in a hurry , this is for the long term.

“We have put together a team that is solid on a technical level and our system of play has been changed and it is a pleasure to watch this team. We play as a team, we defend as a team, it is magnificent.”

Although Liverpool fans might be excited by the prospect that Mbappé could join them for free, the club would need to change their whole pay system to make it happen. The Telegraph says that Mbappé’s team wants a salary of $81.9m (£64.5m/€75.1m) a year after tax, which is about $1.58m (£1.24m/€1.44m) a week. In contrast, Liverpool’s current top earner, Mohamed Salah, gets around $445k (£350k/€407k) per week.
