Man City will once again be without Erling Haaland in today’s match against Sheffield United. The Norwegian striker missed his sixth consecutive match as Man City came from behind to beat Everton on Wednesday.
Before the match, coach Pep Guardiola updated Haaland’s physical condition and announced that the striker would sit out: “He is still not with the team. He feels better with the bones (in his feet) but hasn’t done a single workout with us yet. Unfortunately December is too busy with so many matches. January is a little less congested. Hopefully in January he can return to us.”
John Stones is a new injury worry for Man City after leaving the field in the first half against Everton with an ankle injury, then Ruben Dias was absent due to illness.
Speaking about both Haaland and Stones on Friday, Guardiola said: “Nothing has changed compared to previous matches. The same people are injured, plus John Stones.”
Jeremy Doku and Kevin De Bruyne are also out to continue recovering from muscle injuries. Jack Grealish was said to be present after the burglary occurred at his home.
In today’s match, Rico Lewis and Mateo Kovacic compete to replace Matheus Nunes in the central midfield position, while Bernardo Silva, Phil Foden and Grealish continue to play behind central striker Alvarez.
