Kylian Mbappe’s decision to reject Real Madrid raises intriguing questions about his future plans and potential career trajectory.

Kylian Mbappé turned 25 this week, and it is no surprise that football pundits are examining his career as he hits the midway point to 30. Ahead of another saga involving the Frenchman, one pundit is questioning his recent career choices.

Christophe Dugarry recently stated on RMC Sport that he doesn’t understand Mbappé’s career plan. Even though he admits frankly, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner has had an excellent career.

“His stats are there, but I find that in terms of career plan, he is a disaster; he is a bit of everything and everything,” Dugarry said (h/t Defensa Central). “[Mbappé] doesn’t say what he does, he doesn’t do what he says. He talked to you about Real Madrid as his childhood dream, but when he could go, he didn’t go because the Emir of Qatar appeared and gave him millions to change his mind.

“In terms of exemplarity, there is still progress to be made. He is now 25 years old and still young. He won a lot of things. He made mistakes. He didn’t succeed in everything, like everyone else, so hopefully, he can analyze what he did right and what he did wrong.”

The Paris Saint-Germain star can sign a pre-contract with any club in the coming days once the calendar turns to 2024. All eyes are on Real Madrid to present an offer to join them once his contract expires in June 2024.

Furthermore, Los Blancos will have a deadline for how long the players have to accept their proposal. As a result, if the Spanish side stands firm, this saga won’t be dragged into the rest of the 2023-24 season.

Meanwhile, PSG is moving behind the scenes. Paris has evaluated two project scenarios – one involving Mbappé and the other excluding him. The ball is in his court to see if he wants to continue with the Ligue 1 side.
