Erling Haaland will be fit to face Liverpool next weekend with the Manchester City striker’s latest injury not considered to be serious, according to reports.
The Norwegian twisted his ankle during his nation’s 2-0 friendly victory over Faroe Islands on Thursday evening and sparking concern he would miss the huge upcoming Premier League clash.
Norway have failed to qualify for next year’s European Championship after Israel failed to beat Romania over the weekend and Haaland won’t be risked against Scotland this evening.
The City goalscorer who recently finished second at the Ballon d’Or awards recognizes the best players in the world, explained he will use the time off to receive ‘treatment’ and is expected to be back fit for the upcoming clash against Liverpool.
Haaland’s latest injury has been described as ‘minor’ and won’t keep him sidelined for any considerable period of time, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.
That will come as a huge relief to City manager Pep Guardiola and club supporters who were worried over their record-breaking striker’s availability.
Haaland is currently leading the Premier League goalscoring charts for a second consecutive season with 13 goals in 12 games and provides City’s biggest attacking threat.
However, Liverpool were one of the few sides that Haaland failed to score against last season and will be hoping to get off the mark against City’s closest league competitors at the Etihad next weekend.
Other injury concerns for the hosts see Mateo Kovacic out for a fortnight with a thigh injury. John Stones and Kevin De Bruyne are also rehabilitating from muscle issues.
Ederson, Matheus Nunes and Nathan Ake all withdrew from international duty, while Rodri missed Spain’s win in Cyprus after feeling ‘discomfort’.
The Reds can leapfrog City at the top of the table with just one-point separating the two teams who have had the share of the last five Premier League titles.
