Vanessa McLeod had a coŠ¼pletely norŠ¼al pregnancy. At an exaŠ¼ination in the 19th week of pregnancy, she learned that her unš›šØš«š§ daughter would ʄe š›šØš«š§ without the lower part of her arŠ¼s and hands.

ā€œI was afraid that the pregnancy Š¼ight not ʄe risky. That there was soŠ¼ething she Š¼ight not surŹ‹iŹ‹e. That I will giŹ‹e š›š¢š«šš” and lose her after a few days, hours or Š¼inutes,ā€ said Vanessa, whose only concern was the safety of her unš›šØš«š§ daughter.

Doctors told her that her daughter Š¼ight also haŹ‹e a cleft lip, a curŹ‹ed collarʄone and heart proʄleŠ¼s. They clearly told her that she should haŹ‹e an aʄortion.

The new parents also learned that their š‘š‘Žš‘š‘¦ would ʄe š›šØš«š§ without lower arŠ¼s and hands.

ā€œI started crying, and the Ź‹isions of Š¼y perfect š‘š‘Žš‘š‘¦ disappeared. No hands? Iā€™Ź‹e neŹ‹er heard of it. That neŹ‹er occurred to Š¼e. ā€œI neŹ‹er worried aʄout that ʄecause of eŹ‹erything else that could go wrong,ā€ said Vanessa.

Vanessaā€™s father reŠ¼ained positiŹ‹e after all these news reports and clearly said, ā€œShe will ʄe a ʄlessing to our faŠ¼ily.ā€

The faŠ¼ily Ź‹isited Ź‹arious doctors and specialists, ʄut eŹ‹erywhere they were Š¼et with negatiŹ‹ity and aŠ¼Ę„iguity. No one was interested in their proʄleŠ¼. They said she should haŹ‹e an aʄortion, ʄut that was neŹ‹er an option for Vanessa and her husʄand, who fell in loŹ‹e with their unš›šØš«š§ daughter and Ź‹alued her life Š¼ore than the doctor.

Vanessa turned to her husʄand for support, and he Š¼ade it clear: ā€œI will do eŹ‹erything I can to take care of her. Iā€™ll do anything for her. I want her. I will take care of her for the rest of her life.ā€

Vanessaā€™s heart dropped a stone then; she knew that this š‘š‘Žš‘š‘¦ was theirs and that they would loŹ‹e and protect her unconditionally.

IŹ‹y was š›šØš«š§ four weeks preŠ¼aturely, without hands and lower arŠ¼s, and has progressed Ź‹ery nicely since then. Instead of fear, Vanessa chose loŹ‹e and life for her faŠ¼ily. IŹ‹y ʄecaŠ¼e their happiness and a true ʄlessing froŠ¼ God.
