The jersey sales is one of the economic consequences when a top A class player like these three arrive to a new club.

Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar Jr. took huge steps when moving forward from the European clubs to less popular and competitive leagues like the Major League Soccer and the Saudi Pro League. But besides having millionaire contracts, the jersey sales are one of the most prolific sectors for the players and the clubs.

Every sports fan wishes to have a jersey with the number of his favorite player. Messi, Ronaldo and Neymar Jr. became every child and youth legend and a role model for them to begin practicing the most popular sport in the world. But, who has the most sold jerseys of all time? Cristiano Ronaldo, Messi or Neymar Jr. are excellent examples on how much a jersey can mean something, as a personal item and as an economical support for the clubs.

Neymar’s arrival to the Al-Hilal in August made a huge impact on the international market, being another top A class football star to arrive to the Saudi Pro League and joining Cristiano Ronaldo and Benzema. The french media L’Equip was informing all about his sale from the PSG to Al-Hilal, and when it was presented as the new Saudi addition, all Neymar’s 10 thousand jerseys were outsold in just seven hours.

Another great success example is Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival to Al-Nassr when the number ‘7’ jersey sold over two million copies in just 48 hours. Until June of 2023, Al-Nassr recorded 122 thousand more sales of his jersey, making him the most sold in the Saudi Pro League history.

But who is the most sold jersey?

We’ve already told the examples of Cristiano and Neymar success when selling jerseys, but Messi has surpassed every other soccer player and athlete in the world. According to the American sports store Fanatics, Messi’s number 10 jersey has become the most sold jersey of all time.

When the former PSG player arrived at Inter Miami CF and his jersey was put on sale, within just 48 hours, 700 thousand copies were sold, and by July 19th, they had already sold 850 thousand more. Breaking a record in the United States, as he also surpassed Tom Brady when he arrived in Tampa Bay and the same case when LeBron James signed with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Inter Miami isn´t the only one that earns from Messi’s jersey sales, as the Argentinian astro has a 35% income from the sale, a deal made with Adidas, the official sponsor for David Beckham’s teams; he also has a deal with Appletv, where we earned a 25% of the total suscriptions sales when he debuted with Inter Miami in the Leagues Cup against mexican soccer team Cruz Azul.
