The Argentine icon is coming off his final season with Paris Saint-Germain where he won the Ligue 1 title for the second year in a row before joining Inter Miami this season.

The blockbuster move to the Major League Soccer side was announced by Messi last month as he revealed he wanted to return to Barcelona but accepted a move to the MLS franchise because of the financial difficulties his boyhood club would have in signing him.

The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner is expected to make his Inter Miami debut on July 21 against Cruz Azul in the Leagues Cup, a tournament that will have all 47 first division clubs from Canada, Mexico, and the United States competing for the trophy.

In the meantime, the 36-year-old is enjoying some well-earned time off and his post on Instagram, which has garnered over 12.5million likes, has fans focused on a particular body part of the football star.

It’s in fact Messi’s knees that have people talking due to the noticeable swelling of them with many stumped as to why they look like that.

One fan bluntly asked: “What’s up with Messi’s knees” while another put forth this theory: “That’s the secret sauce to being the best footballer in the world, knee muscles.”

After confirming his decision to move stateside, Messi admitted that he held out hope for a return to Barcelona but previous situations made a move back home impossible for him to determine.

“I made the decision that I am going to go to Miami,” he told Mundo Deportivo. “I still don’t have it 100% completed, but we decided to continue my journey there.

“I’m not going back to Barca, I’m going to Inter Miami. I had a lot of hope that I’d be able to come back.

“But after living what I lived through and the exit that I had (from Barcelona), I didn’t want to come back to be in the same situation: to wait and see what was going to happen or leave my future in the hands of another person.”

He revealed that he received offers from an another European team and money wasn’t his motivation in his move to Inter Miami.

He added: “The truth is that I had offers from another European team, but I didn’t even evaluate it because in Europe my idea was only to go to Barcelona.

“If it had been a matter of money, I would have gone to Arabia or somewhere else.”
