England star Phil Foden has revealed that his favorite hobby outside of football is fishing, which may come as a surprise to many. Despite his success on the pitch, Foden enjoys spending his spare time engaging in this leisurely activity.
Foden, who has been a key player for Manchester City and has helped them achieve historic successes, including winning the treble, has a different pastime compared to others at his level. He has amassed numerous accolades, including multiple Premier League titles, League Cups, FA Cups, and a Champions League trophy. Additionally, he has won two PFA Young Player of the Year awards for his individual performances.
In an interview with Manchester City, Foden shared that fishing is his favorite pastime. He acknowledged that some people find it unusual, saying, “The odd one likes fishing, so when people find out, they say, ‘What a weird sport to enjoy.’ They don’t understand why you enjoy it.” Foden believes that fishing is the perfect hobby to rest his legs and have some downtime.
Foden’s passion for fishing was ignited by his father at a young age, and they still regularly go on fishing trips across the UK and Spain. The winger even missed Manchester City’s Premier League title celebrations in 2018 to go on a pre-planned fishing trip with his dad. Foden explained that it’s the “buzz” of fishing and the quality time spent with his father that keeps him going.
Despite his success and fame in football, Foden finds solace and relaxation in the simple pleasure of fishing, highlighting the importance of finding balance and enjoying personal hobbies outside of professional commitments.
