Erling Haaland: “Barcelona did not have the money to recruit me”

Erling Haaland made Barcelona feel salt when the Norwegian striker announced the harsh truth about the financial situation of the Nou Camp team.

As shared by Jose Alvarez, a famous star in the baseball village on television El Chiringuitostriker Erling Haaland had a rather bitter answer about the financial situation of Barcelona since Lionel Messi left the Nou Camp.

Accordingly, attending the wedding of his Man City teammate Aymeric Laporte, the Norwegian striker received a question about the possibility of joining Barcelona. Real Madrid is likely to recruit Kylian Mbappe, La Liga fans are waiting for a classic match like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in this tournament.

“Barcelona? They don’t have the money to recruit me”, Erling Haaland replied half jokingly.

Barcelona’s financial difficulties are real, when the Nou Camp team had to let Messi go in the summer of 2021 because it could not afford the salary of the Argentine star.

Even after Messi has left, Barcelona still have to struggle to pay El Pulga’s salary until 2025 when the 36-year-old striker agrees to let the Catalan club forgive debt for 4 years.

According to Mundo DeportivoBarcelona has just registered 13 players to prepare for La Liga season 2023-24 including Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Jules Kounde, Eric Garcia, Christensen, Pedri, Gavi, Kessie, Frenkie de Jong, Ferran Torres, Ansu Fati, Robert Lewandowski, Ousmane Dembele and Raphinha.

However, Barcelona has just recruited two more rookies in the summer of 2023, young striker Vitor Roque and central defender Inigo Martinez. Martinez left Athletic Bilbao to come to the Nou Camp on a free basis while the Roque deal cost “Blaugrana” 40 million euros in transfer fees.
