Mason Mount returns to England for a Make-A-Wish event… but will his own dream of joining Manchester United come true amid a £65 million stand-off?

Mason Mount, a Chelsea midfielder, is a target for Manchester United this summer.

United have already had three bids turned down and are at odds with the Blues.

Mason Mount took a break from his summer vacation to attend a Make-A-Wish UK charity event last week.\

The Chelsea and England star, who has been the subject of intense transfer speculation this summer, attended the event at Hoar Cross Hall in Staffordshire alongside presenter and Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh.

Mount and Walsh met with several of the children and their families who have life-limiting or life-threatening illnesses as a result of Disney’s partnership with the charity.

The 24-year-old was photographed with children at the event, as well as with various Disney superheroes and characters such as Mickey Mouse.

His attendance comes amid a contract dispute between his club and Manchester United.

With his Chelsea contract set to expire at the end of next season, the academy graduate and the Blues hierarchy have been unable to reach an agreement on a new contract.

The Mail Sport previously reported that there is a contract standoff between Mount and Chelsea due to a significant gap in negotiations.

The England international, who was the club’s Player of the Year in 2020-21 and 2021-22, is said to want to triple his weekly wage of £80,000, putting him on par with the club’s other senior players and new signings.

The club, however, are unwilling to meet this demand, and despite Mauricio Pochettino’s desire to keep him, there are no signs of him signing a new contract anytime soon.

This summer, Liverpool and Arsenal were rumored to be interested in signing him, as Chelsea looks to offload a midfielder who has made 195 appearances for the club.

However, they dropped out of the race due to rising costs associated with a potential transfer.

United are now the frontrunners, but they have had three bids rejected, with the Blues rejecting their latest offer of £55 million last week.

Mount is valued fairly by United, given his contractual situation and the fact that he wants to play at Old Trafford.

Chelsea, on the other hand, has stated that they will only accept a bid of £58 million plus an additional £7 million in add-ons.

This has resulted in a stalemate, and Erik ten Hag’s side have now turned their attention to alternatives, including Brighton’s Moises Caicedo.

His attendance at the event comes amid intense speculation about his future after Manchester United had three bids for him rejected due to a stalemate with Chelsea.

Mount was also seen at the charity event with various Disney superheroes and characters.

With Mount on the move, a resolution may still be reached.

Meanwhile, Mount expressed his joy at being able to give something back after attending the Make-A-Wish event.

‘The work that Make-A-Wish does for children and their families is incredible,’ he said, adding that the collaboration with Disney was “really special.”

‘It was great to spend some time with the families, joining in on the fun and helping to create some life-long memories.

‘It’s been an honor to be a part of it.’
