Real Madrid have two problems with signing Erling Haaland

Karim Benzema is set to turn 35 years of age this month and it is clear that Real Madrid need to sign their striker of the future soon. Even this season, we have seen the Frenchman struggle with his fitness. One issue after another have meant that not only has he missed several games for the club, but also ended up being ruled out of the World Cup.

Thus, it is hard to see him being the main man at Real Madrid for much longer and the club should have their eyes on world-class strikers to replace Benzema in the near future. One name that is near the top of every fans’ wishlist is Erling Haaland.

Haaland joined Manchester City this summer, from Borussia Dortmund, and has completely taken English football by storm.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Haaland has scored 23 goals and provided 3 assists in 18 appearances for Manchester City, while playing just 1380 minutes of football. That is extraordinary. Yet, it looks like Real Madrid are not entirely convinced about trying to sign the Norwegian superstar.

Real Madrid have two problems when it comes to signing Haaland

As reported by Marca, Real Madrid are not currently contemplating the signing of Haaland. There are doubts over the injuries that the Norwegian has suffered. On the other hand, his high salary is a major hurdle as well.

It is true that despite being just 22 years of age, Haaland has had to deal with constant injury problems. None of them have been major but one still has to be cautious.

On the other hand, Haaland is already one of the highest paid footballers in the world, and rightfully so, and Real Madrid would have a tough time matching the salary that he receives at Manchester City, forget improving upon it.

Considering all these factors, it looks like that Real Madrid are not currently viewing Haaland as a priority signing for the future. Of course, the situation might change if he continues to perform at this world-class level for the next few years. At the moment though, it looks like Los Blancos are more concentrated on winning the race for Endrick’s signature.
