24-YEAR-OLD NANNY MADE ONE FINAL VIDEO CALL TO HER SISTER BEFORE THE FLORIDA PLANE 𝔠r𝘢sh — SHE WAS SO EXCITED ABOUT THE TRIP AHEAD
She showed her sister the children she loved, turned the camera toward the airplane and shared her excitement about visiting the Bahamas for the first time. Neither sister knew it would be their final conversation.
For 24-year-old Anita Maria Centina, November 1 was supposed to be the beginning of a special trip.
The young nanny was traveling with the Robinson family, whom she had grown deeply attached to through her work caring for their two young children.
Before the private jet took off, Anita made a video call to her sister, Angie Ramirez Cetina.
It was an ordinary family conversation filled with excitement and happiness. Anita showed Angie the children, then turned the camera toward the aircraft.
“She was very happy,” Angie later recalled.
Neither of them could have imagined that those moments would become their final memories together.
Hours later, the Learjet 60 crashed in Palm Beach County, Florida, 𝘬iᩚlling all nine people aboard.
“SHE SHOWED ME THE CHILDREN, SHE SHOWED ME THE PLANE”
Speaking to The U.S. Sun in Spanish, Angie remembered the video call that she now wishes she could have again.
“We did a video call. She showed me the children, she showed me the plane,” she said.
Anita was particularly excited about the destination.
She had never been to the Bahamas before, and although she was traveling for work, her sister said she did not see the journey as an obligation.
“She was truly happy because she had never been to the Bahamas, and even though she was working, she didn’t see it as work. She enjoyed it,” Angie recalled.
Anita loved her job, the children she cared for and the people she worked with.
“She loved the job she had. She loved the children very much. She loved the Robinson family dearly.”
For Angie, the memory of her sister smiling during that final call has become especially painful.
It was a moment filled with excitement about what lay ahead — not a goodbye.
SHE WAS MORE THAN A NANNY TO THE ROBINSON FAMILY
Anita was traveling with Adam Robinson, his wife Helen Sharp and their two children, Emma, 4, and Charlie, 2.
She had become an important part of their everyday lives, caring for the children with affection and devotion.
Following the 𝔠r𝘢sh, the family released a statement remembering her as someone who had become truly part of their family.
“She was truly part of the family,” the statement said. “She showed us a legacy of unconditional love and devotion.”
Her relationship with the children was especially meaningful.
Those who knew Anita described her as someone who genuinely loved the work she did and the people around her.
She was not simply accompanying the family on a trip. She was traveling with people she cared deeply about.
And the affection was mutual.
THE MOMENT HER SISTER REALIZED SOMETHING WAS WRONG
When Angie first saw footage of the Learjet crashing into the ground in Florida, she struggled to accept the possibility that her sister might have been aboard.
The images showed a devastating impact, leaving a large crater at the 𝔠r𝘢sh site.
She did not want to believe that the aircraft could be the same one Anita had just shown her.
But the uncertainty did not last.
On Monday morning, November 2, their mother called Angie and confirmed that Anita had been on the flight.
The realization was devastating.
“Later, my mom called me on Monday morning and confirmed to me that yes, it was the flight that Ana Maria was on,” Angie recalled.
In that moment, the excitement of the previous day’s video call became a heartbreaking memory.
THE SISTER WHO HAD ALWAYS BEEN BY HER SIDE
As Angie spoke about Anita, she remembered more than their final conversation.
She remembered the years they had spent supporting one another through life’s most important moments.
One memory stood out above the rest: her pregnancy and the birth of her son.
Anita had been there throughout the entire journey.
“She was there through my whole journey with my son, from the beginning until the day I had him, through my postpartum recovery. She was right there,” Angie said.
Anita adored her nephew.
According to Angie, the little boy held a very special place in his aunt’s heart.
“He was practically the apple of her eye.”
The sisters were inseparable, sharing experiences, memories and the everyday moments that often become most precious after someone is gone.
Now, those memories are what Angie has left.
NINE LIVES LOST IN THE FLORIDA PLANE 𝔠r𝘢sh
The Learjet 60 was traveling from Austin, Texas, to the Bahamas on Sunday, November 1, when it crashed in Palm Beach County, Florida.
There were nine people aboard the aircraft.
They included Adam Robinson and Helen Sharp, their two young children, Emma and Charlie, family friends Rachael Reed and Charmi Fehr, and the two pilots, Captain Jeff Gregory and co-pilot Nathalia Filgueiras.
Anita was the family’s nanny.
There were no survivors.
The National Transportation Safety Board began investigating the 𝔠r𝘢sh to determine what happened during the aircraft’s final moments.
Officials have indicated that the investigation is ongoing, and the precise cause has not yet been established.
A FINAL CALL THAT WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN
For Anita’s sister, the final video call is now one of the most treasured and painful memories she carries.
She remembers seeing Anita happy, showing her the children and sharing the excitement of a trip she had been looking forward to.
She remembers a sister who stood beside her during pregnancy, childbirth and recovery.
A sister who adored her nephew.
A young woman who loved her work and the family she cared for.
The Robinson family also lost someone they considered part of their own family.
And two little children lost the nanny who had cared for them with love.
Anita was only 24 years old. There were still so many places she had hoped to visit, memories she had yet to make and moments she should have shared with the people she loved.
But her sister will always remember that final call — not for the tᩚraɢedy that followed, but for the happiness in Anita’s voice.
She showed her sister the children. She showed her the plane. She was excited about the journey ahead. And she had no idea that it would be their last goodbye.
