CPR began once no pulse was detected. The principal’s 911 call was placed at 11:45:38 a.m., nearly five minutes after Adrian first stood up from her lunch table. Lindale Fire Department arrived around 11:48, police at approximately 11:50, and EMS seconds later. By that point roughly ten minutes had pᴀssed since the first signs of distress. Medical experts emphasize that the window for preventing irreversible brain damage during a complete airway obstruction is extremely short. The autopsy confirmed a large bolus of shredded meat remained in the esophagus at the time of examination.
Lindale ISD has stated that the nurse’s efforts included the Heimlich maneuver, the LifeVac, and CPR before Adrian was transported for advanced care. Superintendent Stan Surratt has said the district has since added more airway-clearance devices throughout its campuses, including in cafeterias, hallways, life-skills rooms, and nurses’ offices, and has increased staff training on emergency response. An independent review of equipment and protocols was also pledged. A pediatric expert who later reviewed the video noted that proper mask fit is important for effective suction with devices like the LifeVac, though he did not conclude that the equipment choice itself caused the dєatᩚh.
