Police Called to Youth Soccer Game After 3-Year-Old Dominates Play, Leaving Child Distressed

A remarkable young soccer talent has found himself at the center of an unexpected controversy after police were summoned to a recreational youth match in Winter Park, Florida. The incident involving 3-year-old Nevada has drawn national attention, with his parents saying the experience has left their son emotionally shaken.

On the morning of Saturday, October 25, 2026, Nevada was competing in an i9 Sports league game against children approximately two years older than him. Video clips shared online show the toddler skillfully controlling the ball, outmaneuvering opponents, and scoring multiple goals with ease. His parents, Martasia and Don, have described him as a natural athlete who has consistently stood out during the season.

According to the family, tension began building as the match progressed. Other parents, coaches, and league officials gathered to discuss limiting Nevada’s participation so that other children could have more chances with the ball. Martasia said she approached the group to speak up for her son. Not long afterward, police were called to the field.

In the 911 call, league director Thomas Hayes reported that a parent was “really, really disruptive,” alleging the individual was following him and using disrespectful language in front of others present. When two officers from the Winter Park Police Department arrived around 10 a.m., Hayes acknowledged Nevada’s exceptional ability, telling them the boy was “great” and “very advanced” compared with the other players. However, he claimed the child was pushing opponents and asked for the family to be removed from the game so a refund could be arranged.

Nevada’s mother told officers that the real issue was her son’s skill level. In a video recorded by the family during the confrontation, his father can be heard stating that police had been called because the three-year-old was “too good” and had held the ball for too long. Body-camera footage later released by police captures both sides of the discussion, showing the parents expressing frustration that their son was being singled out for performing well.

Authorities ultimately classified the situation as a civil matter rather than a criminal one. No arrests were made, and no one was ordered to leave the park or issued a trespᴀss notice. The league subsequently refunded the family’s registration fees.

The emotional toll on Nevada has been significant, according to his mother. In interviews, Martasia explained that the episode has “really traumatized” her son. While he still loves soccer and wants to keep playing, he is now reluctant to return to that particular location and has expressed worry that he somehow caused the trouble. She finds it especially painful that a child so young would feel responsible for the adults’ conflict.

The family’s video of the game and the police response quickly spread across social media, generating millions of views and intense public discussion. Supporters have praised Nevada’s talent and questioned whether standout young players are sometimes unfairly restricted in recreational leagues. Others have focused on the conduct of the adults involved and the decision to involve law enforcement over a youth sports dispute.

For Nevada’s parents, the priority remains protecting their son’s love of the game and helping him regain his confidence. The incident has highlighted ongoing debates about age-appropriate compeтιтion, parental behavior on the sidelines, and how youth sports organizations handle children who develop skills ahead of their peers.
