Lindsay Clancy spoke in court for the first time since her murder trial ended in a mistrial.

On Tuesday, Sept. 29, Clancy, 36, appeared for a status conference in Plymouth Superior Court in Massachusetts, where prosecutors are expected to address whether they intend to retry her.

At the start of the hearing, Judge William Sullivan greeted the court and Clancy, who responded, “Good morning.”

Clancy is charged with murder in the January 2023 strangulation deaths of the her three children: Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and 8-month-old Callan. She has pleaded not guilty by lack of criminal responsibility, arguing she was experiencing postpartum psychosis at the time.

She also attempted to die by sᩚuᩚiᩚcide by jumping out of a second-story window. The fall has left her paralyzed from the waist down.

Prosecutors sought to prove Clancy deliberately killed the children and knew the difference between right and wrong at the time.

The five-week trial held this summer ended on Sept. 4 when Sullivan declared a mistrial since the jury could not reach a unanimous verdict. The jurors deliberated for seven days.

Clancy’s attorney, Kevin Reddington, filed a motion earlier this month arguing that she should be spared a second trial on the grounds of double jeopardy.

Separately, Reddington is arguing Tuesday for a required finding of not guilty, asking the judge to acquit Clancy on the grounds that prosecutors did not present sufficient evidence to prove she was criminally responsible.

Clancy remains on sᩚuᩚiᩚcide watch at a state psychiatric hospital.
