FINAL LINDSAY CLANCY DEFENSE WITNESS TAKES THE STAND TODAY — FORENSIC PSYCHIATRIST SET TO REVEAL WHAT WAS REALLY HAPPENING INSIDE KI-LLER MOM’S MIND AS HER THREE CHILDREN DI-ED, WITH THE VERDICT NOW CLOSER THAN EVER
The final defense witness in ‘s trial is set to take the stand on day 18 as the murder case creeps closer to a verdict.
Forensic psychiatrist Dr Phillip Resnick is expected to address the court on Friday to speak about Clancy’s mental state when she killed her three children.
Clancy, 36, is on trial for the murders of her offspring, Cora, five, Dawson, three, and eight-month-old Callan, at her home in Duxbury, , in 2023.
She strangled the children with exercise bands and then allegedly attempted to kill herself, but her efforts failed and left her paralyzed and in a wheelchair for life.
Clancy has admitted to killing her children but pleaded not guilty to murder by reason of insanity, citing postpartum psychosis, and is seeking to be committed to a state mental health facility rather than face a prison sentence.
On Thursday, her trial abruptly ended for the day after Clancy’s chaplain testified she was ‘relieved’ children were ‘safe’ days after killing them.
The trial previously heard from Clancy’s ex-husband, Patrick Clancy, several relatives, mental health experts, and her doctors.
It is expected to wrap up for juror deliberations early next week.

Court begins then breaks due to technical issues
The jury started to hear from Dr. Phillip Resnick via a zoom call but technical difficulties made it difficult for the jury to hear him.
The doctor said he recently had surgery, which prevented him from flying to testify.
Resnick’s testimony is expected to be crucial to the defense’s case.

Court delayed for unknown reason
Court is delayed by about 45 minutes Friday for unknown reasons.
Before the jury was called in, Judge William Sullivan immediately called for a sidebar with attorneys.
Assistant District Attorney Shanan Buckingham’s bow is black; Clancy’s blouse is burgundy.
Clancy’s parents, Mike and Paula Musgrove, are once again in attendance with their priest, as are many members of the media.

What to expect on day 18 of trial
On day 18 of the trial, jurors can expect to hear from the defense’s final witness, Dr Phillip Resnick, the psychiatrist who played a key role in the trial of Andrea Yates, who confessed to drowning her five children.
Resnick is expected to testify that Clancy was suffering from postpartum psychosis at the time of the killings.
Then, prosecutors will call their rebuttal witnesses. Closing arguments are expected on Monday or Tuesday.
Clancy told hospital chaplain she was glad her children are safe after killings
Sheila Cavanaugh, a chaplain at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, recounted a visit with Lindsay Clancy while she was hospitalized after killing her children.
‘She said to me as I held her hand to comfort her, “I’m so glad my children are safe,”‘ Cavanaugh told the jury of her January 31, 2023, visit with Clancy.
‘I replied theologically to Lindsay, and I said, “Lindsay, your children are safe. They are safe in heaven with god.’
During that visit, the chaplain said Clancy told her about hearing a voice that told her to kill the children.
‘She alluded to having heard a voice, and the voice, according to Lindsay, told her that if she did not follow the command, neither she nor her children would be safe,’ Cavanaugh said.
The chaplain said she visited Clancy at least 14 times at Brigham and Women’s, then about 200 times at Tewksbury Hospital, where she is being held.
‘Lindsay talks frequently about her children. She loves them deeply. She carries immense grief,’ Cavanaugh said.
Clancy murder trial discusses suicide
Lindsay Clancy is accused of murdering her three children – Cora, five, Dawson, three, and eight-month-old Callan – in January 2023.
Although the 36-year-old does not deny killing her children, she has pleaded not guilty and claimed she is not responsible for her actions because she was suffering from postpartum psychosis.
On the day of the killings, Clancy asked her husband, Patrick Clancy, to leave their home to get takeout food and to pick up something at a pharmacy.
The former nurse strangled the children with exercise bands, then used multiple methods to try to end her own life.
She was paralyzed after falling from the home’s second-story window and is being held at a state hospital.
