During an intense defense cross-examination, a psychiatrist said she was unaware her former client  had twice called a sᩚuᩚiᩚcide hotline.

Clancy is on  for murder in the January 2023 deaths of her children: Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and 8-month-old Callan.

Though she does not deny fatally strangling the children in their home in Duxbury, Mass., Clancy is arguing a lack of criminal responsibility, claiming she was overmedicated and suffering from postpartum psychosis.

On Monday, Aug. 10, Clancy’s attorney, Kevin Reddington, grilled Dr. Jennifer Tufts about his client’s clinical treatment in the months before she killed her three children.

Tufts, who was initially called to testify by the prosecution on Friday, Aug. 7, remained on the witness stand Monday. Her testimony has been streamed by the .

Tufts testified that in December 2022, Clancy had said she feared she was close to having thoughts of sᩚuᩚiᩚcide but ultimately “denied feeling suicidal.”

Reddington subsequently asked if Tufts was aware Clancy had called a sᩚuᩚiᩚcide hotline around that same time.

Tufts responded by saying she didn’t know Clancy had called the hotline twice and that she likely hadn’t asked her former client if she had.

“It surprises me that she called them twice,” Tufts testified.

Tufts, reading from her notes, later said that Clancy had reported feeling “hopeless” and that she thought she was going to die.

Clancy, shortly after killing her children, cut her wrists and jumped out of a second-story window in an apparent sᩚuᩚiᩚcide attempt, which left her paralyzed from the waist down.

Clancy and her children were discovered by her then-husband, Patrick Clancy, who had been out running an errand.

Patrick, who has said he forgives his now-ex-wife, and Lindsay have subsequently filed wrongful dєatᩚh  against her medical providers, including Tufts.

If Clancy is found not guilty because of lack of criminal responsibility, she would not immediately go free.

Instead, she would likely be committed for an indefinite period of time to a secure mєntal health facility, where she would face regular evaluations to determine if she can eventually be released.

Prosecutors are arguing that Clancy deliberately killed her children.
