THE POSTS NO ONE UNDERSTOOD UNTIL NOW: CHI-LLING SOCIAL MEDIA MESSAGES SURFACE AFTER OHIO ‘HOUSE OF HOR-RORS’ CHILDREN’S ESCAPE—REVEALING A STORY THAT MAY HAVE BEEN HIDING IN PLAIN SIGHT

Disturbing social media posts from the older children of a family of 16 living in the notorious Ohio “house of horrors,” are re-emerging online, shedding light on a troubling dynamic between the children and their parents.

According to Law and Crime, posts from the older children of Gary Siders Jr. and Elizabeth Siders have resurfaced, offering glimpses into their daily lives at the property, which has been widely described as a house of horrors. Gary and Elizabeth, along with Gary Siders Sr. and Christina Siders, were arrested earlier this month and charged with second-degree felony child endangerment.

The identities of the children have not been publicly disclosed, though it is known that the family comprised 16 boys and girls ranging in age from 18 months to 18 years.

Among the social media posts, two cats were filmed outside the notorious Hamden property. Additionally, several re-shared posts from the accounts provide insight into the nature of the parents’ relationship with the children in recent months.

“How I felt after feeling uncomfortable hugging my own dad,” one of the children reposted. Another post states, “everybody yelling at me like damn I’m trying.”

In another post, the video reads: “pov: me seeing a little girl spending time/having fun [with] her dad (I used to be daddy’s little girl).” Another clip features a scene from a movie or television show depicting a father yelling at a child, captioned: “My dad since I started being a teenager [because] I changed and I’m not the little girl he used to love anymore.”

A further post states: “I’m really starting to hate this house and this family.”

The 16 children were discovered in a “disgusting” home in “deplorable” conditions within a small, rural property in Hamden, a tiny village in southeastern Ohio with a population of approximately 727 residents.

Vinton County Sheriff Ryan Cain reported the home showed evidence of human excrement, and he believes the 16 children were confined to a 12ft by 12ft room for roughly four years. The alleged abuse reached such alarming levels that some of the younger children could barely communicate and had “limited” speech, according to the sheriff.

“Most of our livestock was kept in better conditions than the children,” Cain stated at a news conference. Meanwhile, shocked by what he had seen, Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson said he could not get the smell of the home “away from me,” describing the scenes as “pure evil.”

The children were taken to the hospital. Several were found in critical condition and required hospitalization, while others were examined and discharged.

Two children were transferred to trauma centers owing to the severity of their injuries. None of the children had ever attended school, and the eldest was unable to spell her own name. She was described as developmentally disabled.

A Vinton County judge entered not guilty pleas on behalf of all four defendants. Each was held on a $300,000 bond and barred from contacting one another or their children.

Siders Jr. had been the subject of an unrelated warrant prior to the discovery of conditions inside the home. Court records reveal a warrant had been issued against Siders stemming from misdemeanor indecent exposure charges connected to alleged incidents in May.

Attorney Tamara Holder pointed out that multiple individuals would have witnessed or been involved in Siders’ alleged indecent exposure. “This means that on four separate occasions, at least one person from outside the house witnessed strange conduct,” she said.

“We have also learned that in 2022, Elizabeth Siders gave birth to conjoined twins. Presumably, people within the medical profession had knowledge about the woman’s inability to care for herself. The red flags were everywhere, but they were ignored.”

According to court records, Elizabeth Siders wed Gary Siders Jr. in March 2008 when she was just 15 years old, with her parents’ consent. Records further indicate that she gave birth to their first daughter, now 18, just two months after the marriage.
