Manchester City are now on the hunt to win a fifth consecutive Premier League title.
In their previous campaign, Pep Guardiola’s side won 28 of their 38 league games, drawing seven and losing three.
The Blues also ended up scoring more goals (96) than any other side in the division.
With the new season now underway, City started it off on a strong note by beating Chelsea 2-0 away from home last weekend.
Now though, a pundit has made a claim about one particular player in the City squad and backed him to do something very special this season.
Ray Parlour backs Erling Haaland to win a third consecutive Golden Boot
When asked on talkSPORT if he thinks Erling Haaland will win the Golden Boot this season, Ray Parlour had this to say on the matter.
He said: “I am sure [Mohammed] Salah will be pushing him as well, he scored in his opening game against Ipswich, but the top goalscorer, it has got to be Haaland.
“And his record has been unbelievable since he has been in England.”
Haaland will have a strong chance of being top goalscorer again
In his debut league campaign at City, Haaland won the Golden Boot by scoring 36 goals in 35 games.
The 24-year-old then followed that up by bagging 27 goals in 31 league matches last season, more than any other player in the division once again.
Haaland then opened his tally for the new campaign in last weekend’s 2-0 win over Chelsea.
Ahead of City’s Premier League match against Ipswich Town, Kieran McKenna described Haaland as a “unique” player based on his attributes.
With all of that in mind, it’s easy to see why Parlour thinks the City striker will be the favourite to win a third consecutive Golden Boot.
Moving forward, if Haaland can avoid picking up any injuries throughout the season, he’ll be in with a great chance of scoring more goals than any other player in the league.
