Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has comfortably established himself as one of the best centre-forwards in Europe.
After scoring 86 goals in 89 games with Borussia Dortmund, the Norwegian joined City back in the 2022 summer transfer window.
Since then, Haaland has found the back of the net 90 times in 98 matches across all competitions, winning numerous trophies along the way.
Despite also winning two consecutive Golden Boots, one former Premier League star has claimed that there is a striker currently playing in Saudi Arabia he thinks is better than Haaland.
Hugo Lloris picks Karim Benzema over Erling Haaland
In a video recently uploaded to the official Goal TikTok channel, Hugo Lloris was partaking in a winner-stays-on challenge where he had to choose between specific past and present strikers based on who he thinks is better.
At one point in the video, the former Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper was asked to pick between Haaland and Karim Benzema.
In response, Lloris went for Benzema over the City star, who Jan Aage Fjortoft recently backed to score 45 goals in this upcoming season.
Haaland vs Benzema
In 825 combined club appearances for Olympique Lyon, Real Madrid and Al-Ittihad, Benzema has found the back of the net 433 times and delivered 200 assists.
Having won multiple domestic and European trophies throughout his career including five Champions League titles, the 36-year-old has undoubtedly been a top striker for a significant period of time.
In fact, Benzema won the Ballon d’Or back in 2022, a year before Haaland came second to Lionel Messi in the 2023 rankings.
While it’s hard to pick between these two strikers due to them being at different ends of their careers, we feel that Lloris picked his fellow Frenchman as the safe option, whereas many City fans would say Haaland is better right now.
