Erling Haaland is about to enter his third season as a Manchester City player.
Since joining the club back in the 2022 summer transfer window, the Norwegian has made 98 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side across all competitions, scoring 90 goals along the way.
Having been fed goalscoring opportunities by numerous players in the City squad, Haaland will undoubtedly be looking to win a third consecutive Premier League trophy and Golden Boot by the end of the upcoming campaign.
Now though, one pundit and former top-flight player has shared his thoughts on which particular teammate the 24-year-old enjoys playing alongside the most.
Frank Leboeuf claims Erling Haaland loves playing with Kevin De Bruyne
When asked in a recent video shared on the ESPN FC YouTube channel who Haaland prefers to play in front of out of Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden, Frank Leboeuf had this to say in response.
He said: “I just wanted to say that the answer is very easy.
“Kevin De Bruyne was injured last season and Haaland scored less goals, and we saw how many goals he scored when Kevin De Bruyne was very fit and was serving him. Because Haaland needs to be served.
“I am pretty sure that Haaland prefers to play alongside Kevin De Bruyne.”
Haaland and De Bruyne are a deadly duo
Having played in 61 games together for City across all competitions, De Bruyne has assisted 21 goals for Haaland, who Che Adams said back in May is so hard to play against.
In comparison, Foden has assisted just six goals for the striker despite featuring in 77 games together.
This makes it easy to see why Leboeuf thinks Haaland enjoys playing with De Bruyne, who City paid £54m to sign back in 2015, behind him rather than Foden, who doesn’t always play in a central role to be fair to the Englishman.
