The Brazilian star is in a transition phase, working to regain his physical form
Preparing for the upcoming season, Al Hilal faces Como from Italy this Monday (29) at 1 PM (Brasília time), still without Neymar.
However, coach Jorge Jesus is already envisioning the return of the Brazilian star, highlighting the necessity of having the number 10 in the Saudi squad.
In May, seven months after Neymar suffered an injury during the match between Uruguay and Brazil in the qualifiers, Jorge Jesus explained in a press conference that the total estimated recovery time given by doctors would be 11 months.
Therefore, Neymar will still need a few months before returning to the field.
If everything goes as planned, Neymar should be ready to play again in September. Currently, he is in a transition phase, working to regain his physical form.
“The time they give Neymar for an injury like this is usually between 10 and 11 months. Neymar will not be operational at the beginning of the next season. We think that in September or October, he could be in a position to compete,” said Jorge Jesus.
“Always present”
During the 2023-24 season, Neymar participated in only five games due to a serious injury to his left knee, which involved a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament and the meniscus.
In that brief period on the field, he scored one goal and provided two assists. While recovering, Neymar watched from the stands as Al Hilal achieved victories in the Saudi Championship, the Saudi King’s Cup, and the Saudi Super Cup.
The anticipation for Neymar’s return is high, and Jorge Jesus believes that his comeback will be crucial for the team in the quest for more titles. The presence of the number 10 promises to bring even more quality and dynamism to Al Hilal, which has already proven its strength in national competitions.
Although he played little with the current squad, Neymar managed to be present during the celebrations of Al Hilal’s titles in the Saudi Championship, the Saudi Super Cup, and the Saudi King’s Cup.
Upcoming matches for the team
Before officially starting the 2024/2025 season, Al Hilal is set to face Como and Unidense, both teams from Italy.
On August 13, the Saudi club has a decisive match against Al-Ahli in the semifinals of the Saudi Super Cup.
