Manchester City have completed a deal for Brazil international Savio as their first signing of the summer.
The winger spent last season on loan at City’s sister club Girona, where he racked up nine goals and 10 assists in 37 La Liga appearances to help the club get into the Champions League for the upcoming campaign.
With the winger now part of Pep Guardiola’s squad, a few players already at the Etihad Stadium could be set to benefit greatly from the Brazilian’s arrival.
Erling Haaland
Having won a second Golden Boot in his second Premier League campaign with City by finding the back of the net 27 times in 31 games, Erling Haaland showed once again how deadly he can be in front of goal when getting on the end of goalscoring chances made by his teammates.
With Savio racking up more goal-creating actions (25) in La Liga last season than any other Girona player, this showcases how well the Brazilian could link up with Haaland and set the Norwegian up with plenty of chances.
Phil Foden
Savio played the majority of his games at Girona last season on the left-wing before then playing on the right-wing for Brazil during their recent Copa America campaign.
This, therefore, could allow Phil Foden to secure a more consistent role in a central-attacking-midfield position.
Kevin De Bruyne
Even though Kevin De Bruyne missed a significant chunk of last season through injury, the midfielder still managed to deliver 10 assists in 18 Premier League games.
With Savio scoring a decent amount of goals last season, having him in the team as another goalscorer would benefit De Bruyne and give him another player to deliver assists for.
Taking all of that into account, it’s undeniable that Savio is an exciting young player, who we feel could flourish under Guardiola at City and become a key player for the Blues.
