Kylian Mbappe made history at his Real Madrid presentation.
On Tuesday Mbappe announced his childhood dream to join Real Madrid had come true as he was unveiled to a packed Bernabeu.
The France star put pen to paper on a deal with the club in July, upon the expiry of his Paris Saint-Germain contract.
His presentation, before 80,000 spectators, had been delayed due to France’s involvement at the European Championships, where they were knocked out at the semi-final stage to eventual winners Spain.
Speaking to the crowd Mbappe told fans has long dreamed of the day he would become a Real Madrid player.
The 25-year-old said: “I spent endless nights dreaming about one day playing for Real Madrid and today I am one happy guy. My family are so happy here, I can see my mum crying.
“It’s an incredible day for me, I’ve dreamed of this day since I was a kid and this day means a lot to me.”
Indeed, the attendance at Mbappe’s presentation has only been matched by one Real Madrid player before – Cristiano Ronaldo when he signed for Los Blancos from Manchester United in 2009.
Mbappe was donning his club’s new home kit and addressed spectators in Spanish.
Introducing Mbappe to the Real faithful, club president Florentino Perez told the crowd: “The love that you felt for Real Madrid, and you identifying with this club since your childhood, made it possible for you to be here and to overcome those obstacles on the way to your dream.”
Mbappe’s arrival comes three years after Real failed with a £137million offer for the player.
Mbappe was offered a contract extension at PSG, where he scored 256 goals in 308 appearances, but opted to see out his contract.
