Erling Haaland is now preparing to attack his third season at Manchester City.
With two seasons now under his belt at the Etihad Stadium, the striker has played a key role in seeing City win their two previous Premier League trophies and their European titles.
In 98 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side across all competitions, the centre-forward has bagged 90 goals and delivered 15 assists.
Despite Haaland being one of the best players in Europe right now, a player in the Premier League has suggested that Real Madrid have someone who is better than the City star.
Wesley Fofana picks Kylian Mbappe over Erling Haaland
In a recent video shared on the ESPN UK TikTok channel, Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana was asked a series of this-or-that questions.
When asked to pick between Haaland and Kylian Mbappe, Fofana went for his fellow Frenchman over the City striker, who has played against the centre-half on one occasion during City’s Treble-winning campaign where the Blues beat Chelsea 1-0.
Haaland vs Mbappe
At the age of 23, Haaland has made 280 combined senior club appearances playing for sides in Norway, Austria, Germany and England, finding the back of the net 225 times and providing 51 assists.
In comparison, Mbappe has made 368 combined senior appearances for Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain, scoring 283 goals and supplying 124 assists.
Following his seven-year spell in Paris, the 25-year-old has now officially joined Carlo Ancelotti’s side on a free transfer.
Despite that, the Norway international finished above the new Real signing in the 2023 Ballon d’Or rankings after his record-breaking debut season at City.
Specifically, Haaland finished second behind Lionel Messi, whereas the France international came third.
In our view, while both Haaland and Mbappe are undoubtedly two of the best attacking players in Europe right now, we feel that not many City supporters would agree with Fofana’s pick.
