At just four months old, she endured four agonizing days trapped in a wire snare while her mother fell victim to poachers.
These baby elephants need more than physical recovery; they yearn for their mothers’ comfort and guidance.
After being rescued from South Africa’s Kruger National Park, Khanyisa is now recovering at Hoedspruit Elephant Rehabilitation and Development (HERD) in Maruleng Municipality in Limpopo.
Thanks to stem cell treatment and rehabilitation. But her healing journey is far from over.
Khanyisa urgently requires specialized milk formula for the next year, and she’s not alone.
“Poaching season” looms, and more vulnerable orphans like her need our help. HERD expects an influx of orphans soon, and we must prepare.
Over R130k needs to be raised for a three-month supply of specialized milk formula, ensuring Khanyisa and her fellow orphans have a chance to thrive and heal.
