Journalist Ben Jacobs has provided an update about a Manchester City player whose future has been in question during the summer transfer window.
Pep Guardiola’s men will be hoping to make any possible sales as soon as possible.
Manchester City, like any club would be dreading the prospect of selling a player too late in the window to replace them.
At the Etihad Stadium, the expectation is seemingly to win major trophies every season and as a result, in the summer of 2024, it will be crucial for City’s squad to be in the right position to do so.
Ben Jacobs provides Julian Alvarez to PSG transfer update
Manchester City will be hoping to win their fifth Premier League title in a row as well as the Champions League next season — if not either at the very minimum.
Since 2019, the Sky Blues are yet to have a campaign where they have not won either the league or Europe’s elite competition.
In recent times, one player who has played an important role in their success is Julian Alvarez — who Ben Jacobs stated is valued in excess of £70 million by Manchester City.
The 24-year-old is desperate to play more football, according to Fabrizio Romano and the World Cup winner’s agent has informed City of his desire.
Ben Jacobs told The Wolfpack’s official YouTube channel that PSG could still try to sign Alvarez.
“At the moment, they’re prioritising other targets in a variety of different positions such as Joao Neves of Benfica, who’s very expensive, potentially Victor Osimhen, we still can’t rule out Julian Alvarez.”
“So, PSG are going to be spending their [Kylian] Mbappe money if we’re going to call it at that or their savings for Mbappe at other players at this stage.”
In June, Fabrizio Romano revealed PSG have a “strong interest” in Alvarez to bolster their forward line and those close to the player have made them aware of his desire to play more regularly.
The Julian Alvarez decision needs to be made quickly
Whether Manchester City decide to keep Alvarez or sell him to PSG — the decision needs to be made as soon as possible.
The £100,000-a-week man is the only player capable of acting as an understudy for Erling Haaland — being a natural striker.
Top-quality marksmen who are also willing to play second-fiddle to Haaland are a rarity in the transfer market.
As a result, City must try and discover where Alvarez’s priorities lie and act accordingly instantly.
