After breaking his nose in his first match for France at EURO 2024, Kylian Mbappé played in the semifinals of the EUROS against Spain without a mask on. He was supposed to wear a mask for the rest of the tournament to protect his broken nose, but he has yet to undergo surgery. The French star has been irritated by wearing the mask, and some fans believe that it has bothered him and prohibited him from performing his best at the EUROS. Mbappé not wearing the mask was a surprise to many, including himself. Helena Condis Edo from COPE reported that Mbappé asked if he could play without the mask tonight. Some assume he asked UEFA officials and the French national team staff, like the manager of the French national team, Didier Deschamps. The French star was given permission to start and finish the game without the mask he had worn for the past three matches for France at the EUROS. Despite not playing with a mask, Real Madrid fans are worried about his recent performances, including today.
Mbappé broke his nose in the match against Austria, where France defeated them by 1-0 in the first match of the group stage. Mbappé broke his nose late in the game and had to be subbed out and taken to the hospital. He missed the second match of the group stage due to the nose injury but returned in the final match of the group stage against Poland with a mask.
Mbappé scored against Poland in a 1-1 draw and then failed to score in France’s knockout stages against Belgium, Portugal, and Spain. The French star is now out of the EUROS after losing 2-1 to Spain in the semifinals, but he did provide an assist in the 9th minute for Randal Kolo Muani’s opener. Mbappé finished the EUROS campaign with a goal and an assist, which is not impressive to Real Madrid fans.
France’s next match after the EUROS
France is out of the EUROS after losing 2-1 to Spain. France will play once again in September in the UEFA Nations League. They will take on Italy on September 6th, and they play in League A Group 2 with Belgium, Italy, and Israel involved.
