Sport is one thing that urges you to never give up. While Real Madrid is expected to become the European supremo after acquiring Kylian Mbappe from PSG, FC Barcelona is waiting for the light at the end of a pretty long and dark financial tunnel. After incurring a significant debt a few years ago, the Catalan giants have received some rays of hope that could land Erling Haaland. Both stars finished second and third in the race for the Ballon d’Or last year and are expected to continue even fierce battles for many years to come.
Unable to afford even slightly expensive players, reports suggest that Joan Laporta’s club may have struck a deal that can provide some relief to the club’s turmoil. According to Football Transfers, the 27-tine Spanish champions are expecting a $160 million deal per year with Nike. The American sports brand could be making kits for FC Barcelona if the deal is successful claims the website with Laporta being optimistic about it.
However, a few reports earlier expressed concerns about why the new kits of the club haven’t been announced till now. The 5-time European Champions usually give their fans an idea of what their favorite team would wear in the upcoming season. Reports suggested that the connection between both parties could be strained as Laporta was already looking for alternate deals to curb their financial crisis. Nevertheless, the age-old relationship could be on the right track if the deal would go ahead.
Nike has been making the kits for the Blaugrana since the 1990s and the last deal was made in 2016. The deal was reportedly valid until 2026 and estimated to be around $112.3m per season in present-day value apart from the extras. If the aspiring deal comes true, Barcelona can bring Haaland who can help them compete with rampaging Real Madrid.
Real Madrid ahead of FC Barcelona amid the upcoming arrival of Kylian Mbappe
With the negotiations appearing to be going on between Nike and Barcelona, Real Madrid already launched their new jersey earlier this month. With Kylian Mbappe set to arrive at the Santiago Bernabeu, Los Blancos went for a classic white kit with black trim and will feature a subtle Houndstooth pattern to give a local flavor.
However, FC Barcelona’s first aim would be to get more competitive in terms of winning titles. With the arrival of their new coach Hansi Flick, the club is already looking to make more signings which looks tough due to their financial circumstances. But can Lionel Messi’s former team acquire players like Erling Haaland soon? Let us know in the comments.
