Barcelona have a track record when it comes to signing players from Manchester City in recent years.
For example, names such as Ferran Torres, Eric Garcia and Ilkay Gundogan have waved goodbye to the Etihad Stadium to make moves to the Spanish club in previous transfer windows.
Despite that, Pep Guardiola’s side have still managed to stay dominant in England as they won a fourth Premier League trophy in a row at the end of their most recent campaign.
Even though the latest summer transfer window is now open for business, some behind-the-scenes details have come to light regarding another current City player Barcelona have their eyes on but aren’t necessarily looking to sign in this window.

Barcelona plotting future transfer move for Erling Haaland
A recent report from Football Transfers has claimed that due to a financially lucrative kit deal with Nike, Barcelona are hoping to get their financial situation in order and allow them to lure Erling Haaland and Arsenal’s William Saliba to the club within the next three years.
City signed the striker from Borussia Dortmund back in the 2022 summer transfer window in a deal worth £51m.
During his time with the Blues, the Norwegian has scored 90 goals in 98 appearances across all competitions, winning six major titles in the process.
City must keep hold of Haaland for as long as possible
Within just two seasons at the Manchester club, Haaland, who Alan Shearer recently claimed has the best left foot in Europe, has comfortably proved himself to be a key figure for the team.
Even though the 23-year-old’s contract at City isn’t set to expire until the summer of 2027, we feel that the club should be doing all they can to keep hold of Haaland for as long as possible.
Regardless of Barcelona’s potential financial situation, the Blues may have to make sure the striker’s head doesn’t get turned at any point in the future and remains focused on doing his best at City.
