Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk was an enthralling encounter for the combat fandom. But, they also got the opportunity to see some of the notable personas across sports up close, as many including Anthony Joshua, and Steven Gerrard attended the fight. Yet, the biggest names in attendance yesterday were Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar. Unfortunately, the superstar duo couldn’t meet on the pitch this season, as the Brazilian is recovering from his ACL tear. And it seems CR7 is just as interested as the supporters in knowing the latest regarding Neymar’s fitness.
Footage on X showed the interaction between the two soccer greats. As per the footage, Cristiano Ronaldo asked Neymar, “How are you, everything is fine? What about injury?” Neymar replied he was fine while noting that CR7 was accompanied by Cristiano Jr. and Ronaldo added, “Tomorrow he has school. I told him you will come to watch boxing with me, but remember that tomorrow you will wake up early.”
Sadly for the supporters, Neymar won’t be in action at next month’s Copa America. There were reports that his recovery was going better than expected. The star even made an Instagram post on the same. But he was not named in the Brazilian squad and it seems the winger will be hoping to return in time for Al Hilal’s preseason preparation.
Moreover, this won’t likely be the last time Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar are set to meet this month. The date for the King Cup final has been announced and CR7 will want to win at all costs.
The King Cup final could define Cristiano Ronaldo’s legacy in Saudi Arabia
Since his arrival in Saudi, CR7 has scored plenty with little to show for. His only title with Al Nassr is the Arab Champions Cup, a tournament still being debated as to whether it is friendly or not. Hence, the King Cup final against Al Hilal on May 31st has extra significance. A win could set the tone for the rest of Cristiano Ronaldo’s tenure in Saudi Arabia. But, winning is easier said than done.
This season, Al Nassr met Al Hilal 4 times with 3 losses and a draw. Hence, Jorge Jesus’s side is not easy to beat. A trophyless season is not the norm for Cristiano Ronaldo. Hence, a victory is imperative for Al Nassr’s captain. On the other hand, while Neymar won’t be able to participate, the Brazilian is expected to attend and support his teammates, just like their League victory. Which side will come out on top?
