A Bulldog named Freya had given birth to a litter of eight with a pup coming out of the unusual color, green.
The owners, Trevor and Audra Mosher said the possible names for the puppy would either be Fiona (Shrek’s princess), Hulkette, or Pistachio.
Fiona had been born with a black sac while her siblings were in translucent ones.
It was assumed that the hue is only a result of contact with green bile biliverdin in the womb.
The couple had thought that the dog was stillborn until they spotted her moving.
Trevor told Global News: “We started to dry her off and noticed she was green and immediately again thought there was something wrong.”
“So we googled it, ‘my puppy is green, what’s wrong,’ and it is very rare and it has happened a few times all over the world. I’m kind of amazed. As rare as it seems to be, I feel very lucky to have witnessed it and been a part of it,” he added.
Dr. Bronwyn Crane said less than one in 10,000 of it is happening.
The color will eventually fade until it is gone completely.
The strange hue of the puppy might be the possible result of meconium, the earliest stool produced by an infant dog in its mother’s womb, experts said at the time.
