One of the most horrible sceneries is when you’re in trouble but cannot call for help from anybody. Perhaps, the only thing you can do in such dreadful circumstances is to try your best to survive and not lose hope.
You may think it hardly happens for humans as we could easily seek help from others in this modern world. However, animals, including your beloved pets, are likely to be trapped in helpless situations. Let’s meet Farcik, a lucky dog that got help when he was in despair.
One day, people working near Suwalki, a town in Poland, caught some strange noise. When they followed the sound to a wooded area, they were astounded to see a desperate dog trapped in a puddle of sticky tar. The poor animal was barking continuously, hoping someone would notice and lend him a hand.
Despite all efforts, the workers were unable to pull the dog out of the puddle, so they contacted Joanna Godlewska, a rescuer from the Niczyje Animal Foundation. The woman rushed to the place immediately and burst into tears when she arrived. “When I finally arrived and saw a dog lying in the tar, tears came to my eyes,” Godlewska remembered.
People believed the dog, probably abandoned, lay on the illegally-dumped tar to seek warmth without knowing he would be hopelessly stuck there. No one knows how long the animal had endured this, but he would definitely have lost his life if the workers hadn’t found him.
A crew from the local fire department and Godlewska struggled to get the dog out. Their hearts melt when they saw a ray of hope in the pup’s eyes. “He understood that we were saving him,” Godlewska said.
After a long time managing to get rid of the most tar-gripped parts of the dog’s fur and loosening the rest with cooking oil, the rescuers finally lift the pup out.
The animal was then treated for exhaustion in an animal clinic. The remaining tar in his body caused a mess, but it was removed by the vet eventually. Fortunately, the pup’s health was quite good, except for some superficial injuries to one side of his face.
After a couple of cleaning sessions, the pup regained his sweet spirit. “He feels better and better,” Godlewska shared.
The lovely pup was named Farcik and had some time to recover. When he gets his spirit back, Godlewska plans to take him in and give him a forever home with unconditional love.
“I just wanted to save him,” Godlewska said. “Thank you to everyone who saved this dog.”
