Speaking to Le Media Carré, Real Madrid’s Antonio Rüdiger (31) has revealed that he has no fears about the prospect of facing Kylian Mbappé (25) in the Champions League final.
Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain might be on opposite sides of the semi-final but that has not stopped the German international from pouring fuel on the fire in what could be a tantalising affair if the Spanish and French teams manage to collide on the 1st of June.
Not least because of the status of Mbappé’s future coming once more into the spotlight if the two teams were to meet. The PSG winger has long been rumoured and linked with joining Real Madrid, and it is highly suspected that when he leaves Les Parisiens at the end of the season he will be swapping Paris for Madrid.
‘I find this disrespectful’ – Antonio Rüdiger dismisses Kylian Mbappé criticism
Rüdiger was confident when assessing what it would be like to face Mbappé, “If we face him in the final we’ll beat him.” The defender added laughing, “And if he dribbles past me I’ll smash him.”
There had been some conversations on social media that Mbappé was “still in the pocket” of the German defender after the two players met in the most recent international break when France lost 2-0 to Germany. A topic that Rüdiger was quick to dismiss, “I find this disrespectful.”
The defender continued by suggesting that what Mbappé has already done as a player is incredible, “Kylian is special. He won the World Cup at 18… I think he can become the best player in France’s history.”
