Manchester City face a nervous wait to discover if Erling Haaland will be fit to face Brighton on Thursday.
The Norwegian striker was substituted off against Real Madrid, due to fatigue according to Pep Guardiola, before missing the weekend’s FA Cup semi-final win over Chelsea.
City boss Guardiola confirmed that an injury kept Haaland out of his line-up but insisted that he “didn’t think it was much”, while admitting his uncertainty on his availability for the Brighton game.
An update will be delivered in the pre-game press conference later this week.
John Stones’ condition should also be discussed after his half-time exit at Wembley, which is yet to be confirmed one way or another in relation to a possible injury.
City face two tricky away trips in their bid to reclaim the Premier League lead from Arsenal, with Nottingham Forest coming after the Brighton match. Some rotation is therefore possible from Guardiola.
Ederson should return in between the posts with Josko Gvardio, Mateo Kovacic and Jeremy Doku also options to enter the XI.
Predicted Man City XI: Ederson; Walker, Akanji, Dias, Gvardiol; Rodri, Kovacic; Silva, Foden, Doku; Alvarez
Doubts: Haaland, Stones
