Man City manager Pep Guardiola spoke about his future this week – and Erling Haaland’s father Alf-Inge has outlined his son’s next move.
Erling Haaland has only been at Man City for more than 18 months, but his impact is nothing short of seismic. The former Borussia Dortmund striker scored 52 goals in just 53 games in his first season at the Etihad, playing an integral role as Man City won the Champions League for the first time to complete a historic treble.
Speaking on the documentary “Haaland: The Big Decision”, Haaland’s father hinted that his son will stay with the Premier League champions “for three or four years at most”, amid reports linking him with the dream of moving to Real Madrid.
Haaland Sr said: “I think Erling wants to prove his ability in all competitions. Then he can stay there (Man City) for three or four years at most. For example, Erling could play two five and a half years in Germany, two and a half years in England and then in Spain, Italy, France, right?”
Last year, it was outlined that the release clause of the Norwegian striker’s contract with the Etihad team worth £ 150 million, expected to take effect next summer, was canceled because of closely related to the future of Pep Guardiola, who signed a contract extension until 2025 shortly after Haaland’s arrival.
As for Pep, when asked about his future plans recently, the 53-year-old coach did not commit to signing another contract extension but emphasized that he felt “really good” just a few days after Jurgen Klopp announced he would soon quit his role at Liverpool.
Since then, the press in England believes that if Pep Guardiola decides to leave, Erling Haaland will be the first star to follow his teacher and leave Etihad.
