Cristiano Ronaldo is known for his performance on the pitch, but also for what he generates off it, unlike Lionel Messi. It is a good time to remember that in 2021 he ended up very angry in the tie between Portugal and Serbia in the qualifiers for the Qatar 2022 World Cup because the referees did not mark his goal that would have given the portuguese the victory in their elimination match.
The Portuguese star took off his captain’s badge and threw it on the floor after the referee’s decision, and left the match. A fireman retrieved the badge and donated it to the Serbian foundation, Together for Life, to raise funds; the captain’s armband was auctioned for a price of US$75,000. The money raised was used to pay for the operation of a six-month-old baby who suffers from muscular atrophy in his spine and the surgery has to be performed outside Serbia.
The three-day auction was not without controversy as some participants tried to affect the process by bidding exorbitant amounts. The bogus bids generated public outrage and the authorities vowed to find and punish those responsible.

However, it was learned that the buyer, who remained anonymous, acquired the captain’s cap for 64,000 euros (75,000 dollars), Serbian state television reported. Cristiano received strong criticism for his actions and some believe his angry display could be sanctioned by FIFA.
