The French striker is expected to be able to complete a free transfer deal in the summer with foreign clubs after entering the final six months of his contract with Paris Saint-Germain. While Real Madrid have long been pursuing Mbappe and tried to sign the 2018 World Cup winner last summer.
According to Sport, Real Madrid is ready to sell Vinicius Jr to make room for Mbappe in the squad. The above source confirmed that the Brazilian winger will be sold immediately if Mbappe is added.
President Florentino Perez does not believe Vinicius has the qualities to become the club’s key superstar. On the other hand, the Brazilian player really wants to be the center of Los Blancos’ attack next season.
The news is a boost for Premier League clubs, with Manchester United recently linked with a potential move for Vinicius. However, the 24-year-old player previously suggested that he would only leave the Bernabeu to return to his old club Flamengo.
In interviews with France Football and L’Equipe last year, he said: “I think I could stay here for my whole career, but the club of my life is Flamengo.”
“I promised my father I would return one day. I must keep this promise.”
Vinicius left Flamengo when he was just 18 years old to join Real Madrid for about 40 million pounds in 2018.
Since then, he has scored 69 goals and provided 68 assists in 243 appearances for the Spanish giants. The Brazilian international also won the 2022 Champions League final.
Despite hamstring and thigh injuries this season, the striker born in 2000 has scored 10 goals in all competitions and signed a new contract until October 2027.
