A source from The Sun newspaper confirmed Man Utd’s plan to find a new striker.
Karim Benzema ended 14 years at Real Madrid last summer to join Al Ittihad. But just six months later, doubts have emerged about the future. Recent news shows that this veteran striker wants to return to Europe to play football.
Man United is one of the clubs said to be interested in the 36-year-old. Summer signing Rasmus Hojlund scored seven goals in his first season but is currently the only pure striker.
The reason is that Anthony Martial must sit out until April after undergoing surgery. Erik ten Hag is exploring loan options to strengthen the attack, as was the case with Wout Weghorst last year.
However, Man United is not considering a move to bring in Benzema to fill that void, even after losing Martial in the next three months. According to The Sun, Man United even refused to participate in negotiations with the French player.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INOES are skeptical about big-money deals for players who are in or are entering the final stages of their careers, such as the cases of Casemiro and Raphael Varane.
