Kylian Mbappe’s comparison of European football to the NBA sparks an interesting debate about the evolution of both sports.

The past two years have witnessed a dense schedule of tournaments in Europe. As a result, football teams face more injuries. Varane, Rodri and many players have also spoken out about the tight match schedule.

The names mentioned above all affirm that they are not afraid to compete at high density. But having to play continuously like that will affect the professional quality of the player as well as the match.

Recently, Kylian Mbappe also expressed his opinion about players having to work too hard. The French striker believes that European football is now similar to the NBA, where teams must play a minimum of 82 matches per season.

Specifically, Mbappe shared with British GQ: “We are gradually playing according to the NBA model. Each season can now last up to 70 matches.

Personally, I have no objection to having to play so many matches. But our players will not be able to maintain physical condition in every match, in other words, they will not be able to play well in all matches. Audiences will also not be able to see performances of the highest quality.”

The PSG striker also shared his future plans: “I have my own direction for my career. I want everything to happen naturally, not forced.”
