According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Al Hilal has decided not to terminate Neymar’s contract. However, the club plans to temporarily exclude the player, born in 1992, from its squad to make room for Renan Lodi as a foreign player.
“Neymar will return to Al Hilal’s lineup once he recovers from his injury,” the Italian journalist reported.
Previously, there were rumors in the media about Al Hilal possibly ending its contract with Neymar due to his limited contributions. Some sources even suggested that the former Barcelona star could reunite with his close friend Lionel Messi at Inter Miami.
Neymar is currently recovering from knee ligament surgery. He suffered the worst injury of his career while on national duty in the South American World Cup qualifiers. Following the surgery, Neymar is expected to be sidelined until August of the next year, missing the entire 2023/24 season with Al Hilal and the Copa America with the Brazilian national team.
Despite being on crutches during his recovery, Neymar has not given up his passion for partying. In late December, he used his private yacht to host a multi-day lavish party, attended by singers, actors, models, and alcoholic beverages.
Recently, Neymar, through his father, donated 150,000 euros to support Dani Alves, who is currently in prison for rape. This amount was used to pay a “mitigation compensation” of 150,000 euros requested by the victim. If Alves is found guilty, this payment could potentially reduce his sentence.
