Jadon Sancho admires Lionel Messi and was starstruck when playing against him during his previous time playing for BVB
In an old interview with SoccerBible, Sancho mentioned players that made him feel star-struck on a football pitch. Sancho encountered players like Kylian Mbappe and Neymar during his first BVB spell. Sancho would play PSG in a Champions League in the 2019/2020 Champions League Round of 16. Sancho`s performances have elevated him to compete with Mbappe during that time.
Sancho also remembers shaking Lionel Messi`s hand when BVB played Barcelona in the same Champions League campaign. Sancho scored in BVB`s defeat to Barcelona 3-1. He considers Messi to be the best player in the world.
“Mbappe is near me in age, but what he`s done, you have to respect it. Won the World Cup at such a young age, carried the team… hats off to him. And obviously Neymar, I look up to him. I see me as him. I related to what he does on the pitch.” Sancho then praises Messi. Sancho says, “And then Messi just speaks for itself. Best player in the world. – that was kind of mindblowing.” [meeting Mbappe, Neymar, and Messi for the first time].
