Sir Jim Ratcliffe has arrived at Manchester United and is preparing to hold talks with head coach Erik ten Hag along with other key figures at Old Trafford.
The INEOS chief, who completed a £1.25 billion purchase of a 25% stake in the club on Christmas Eve, flew to Manchester on his private jet on Tuesday.
He is expected to spend a few days in Manchester and will visit Old Trafford, Carrington training ground, and get the views of the staff before making important decisions.
Man United’s first team are off on Tuesday but 71-year-old billionaire Ratcliffe will face Ten Hag, whose future is increasingly in doubt as the team lost nine of their opening 20 matches and finished bottom of their Champions League group.
Sir Ratcliffe will also meet key figures behind the scenes and is expected to welcome players later this week. Ratcliffe and a number of key associates at INEOS visited Man United last March while the Glazers were still considering a complete sale.
