Neymar Jr suffered ACL and meniscus injury during the qualifying match for the FIFA World Cup 2026 between Brazil and Uruguay in October.
Neymar Jr, the Brazilian and Al-Hilal footballer, went on a three-day personal cruise amidst his recovery from an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and meniscus injury suffered two months ago. After undergoing left knee surgery, the 31-year-old was aboard the MSC Preziosa, a 330-metre-long ship, travelling from his hometown of Santos to Rio de Janeiro and back.
The journey on the cruise for Neymar Jr, which was named “Ney em alta Mar,” began on December 26 from the port in Santos, while the trip ended three days from the same point later after a stopover in Buzios. Thousands of passengers purchased expensive tickets, ranging from €1000 to €6000, to meet the footballing royalty on his offshore vacation, while enjoying facilities like a permanent DJ, bowling, water park, casino, and music concerts, among others.
According to the reports quoted by Marca, Neymar Jr may have earned more than €3.6 million ($4 million) through revenue generated from tickets on his cruise. Notably, the Brazilian is associated with spending a lot of money on parties and holidays, but this time around, he is expected to make money through a cruise journey.
Moreover, the team doctor of Brazil, Rodrigo Lasmar, spoke about the recovery from the left knee injury for Neymar Jr earlier this month. In the press conference, HE was quoted as saying, “He (Neymar Jr) has demonstrated, from the first moment, that he is following what we are proposing.”
Criticism of Neymar
The top scorer in the history of the Brazilian National Team received strong criticism for the videos circulating on social networks where he appears enjoying himself inside the boat. Neymar Jr., 31, could return to the playing field until August of next year, everything depends on his recovery.
