Guardiola confirmed that the Norwegian suffers from bone stress.
The Norwegian scorer Erling Haaland would only return to play in the middle of next month for Manchester City, due to a bone stress injury that he suffered in his foot several weeks ago, the European press indicated.
Haaland missed City’s last six games, including the two Club World Cup matches in Saudi Arabia and Wednesday’s match against Everton in Liverpool in the team’s return to the Premier League after its experience in Asia.
City’s coach, the Spanish Pep Guardiola, assured that the doubt regarding the forward lies in knowing when the pain he has will disappear and that he hopes he will be back as soon as possible.
“He suffers stress in the bone. He is fine, but he is in pain,” explained Guardiola, who did not want to stipulate a time for his return. “He is not a small and thin man (1.94 meters and 88 kilograms), like Phil Foden (another City figure), he is bigger, which makes it more difficult. He will be fine and when he is back, he will play,” the coach completed, seeking to silence the rumors that appeared in recent weeks around the figure of the scorer.
Haaland’s slow recovery
Haaland will therefore miss City’s next match against Sheffield United in the Premier and the first match of the year in the FA Cup against Huddersfield Town. The question will be whether he will arrive in time to play against Newcastle United on January 13.
